Karađorđe Stadium (Serbian: Стадион Карађорђе, Stadion Karađorđe), formerly known as the Stadium of Vojvodina (Serbian: Стадион Војводине, Stadion Vojvodine), is a multi-purpose stadium in Novi Sad, Serbia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Vojvodina. The stadium is capable of holding up to around 20,000 people, although the stadium's seating capacity can only seat up to 15,204 people.[2] After the reconstruction, it was venue of the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships.
Formerly, it was known as the City Stadium (Serbian: Градски стадион or Gradski stadion). In 2007, the stadium has been renamed to Stadium Karađorđe after Karađorđe "Black George", the leader of the First Serbian uprising. However, Stadium Karađorđe was in fact the older and original name of the stadium that was used from its foundation in 1924 until the end of the Second World War.[3]
